Assistant bank manager, Jack Quaid has CIPA, congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis. He can’t feel pain. When his bank is robbed and his new girlfriend is taken as hostage, Everyman, Quaid goes off in hot pursuit with no plan. The movies logic is absurd, but you know that going in. The first 1/3 had me in smiles and Jack Quaid is perfectly chosen for this role. It starts off as sizzle and ends in fizzle. The movie loses its action-comedy quality as it goes on and relies on the ‘I can’t feel pain’ trope, without exploring some of the potential nuances. So you feel like the same gags are being recycled and begins to feel uninspired It’s 2000’s Crank (Jason Statham), but lighter.
